Beyond Inclusion - Helping Individuals with Disabilities Belong in the Church
Here’s a radical statement. What if inclusion wasn’t the end goal for your church, but simply a starting point? What kind of church might result if creating belonging for individuals with disabilities became the baseline? What would that perspective shift require of us? What might it awaken in our friends with disabilities?
This breakout invites leaders, volunteers, dreamers, and innovators to reimagine the role of disability in the Body of Christ. We'll move beyond simple access (think ramps and sensory rooms) and explore how disability theology, lived experience, and genuine friendship can transform how we do ministry and church.
Together, we'll dream in BOLD and consider some difficult questions. What would change if people with disabilities were considered to be essential to our communities? What if the real invitation was participation, partnership, and power-sharing?
You’ll walk away with practical tools and a vision that ripple beyond the walls of your church. You’ll hear stories that make you laugh, think, and maybe tear up a little. Whether you're just getting started in disability ministry or ready to continue dreaming, this session will challenge you to take the next step in your journey. Let’s start asking what kind of church is possible when our friends with disabilities lead the way.
